Design & Sustainable Wood
It is estimated that more than 60% of the world's forests have been cleared. In the Brazilian Amazon, up to 80% of the clearings are illegal. Obtaining timber from native forest exploitation is only acceptable following techniques and procedures that ensure their sustainability and better livelihoods for local populations.
To meet this challenge, BVRio created the Design & Sustainable Wood initiative, which connects internationally renowned Brazilian designers with the community forestry enterprise Coomflona (Tapajós National Forest Mixed Cooperative) in the Amazon, to help build both creative and commercial ventures/collaborations.
This documentary shows the results of the first year of the Initiative.
